Fractional ownership is when an investor purchases a percentage or share of an asset instead of paying the full price for the asset or property. Depending on the type of fractional ownership, the owner will in addition also obtain partial usage rights in addition to an equity stake. Fractional ownership properties are managed by the resort and when not in use by the owner , the accommodation may be banked for Exchange purposes or alternatively the weeks may be places in the resort rental pool in order to generate a dividend.
